Vanilla Cake - Courtesy of Jenny

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 cups All -purpose Flour
  • 1 stick of butter
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 3/4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Instructions:
In a medium-sized bowl, take butter and cream while adding sugar to it.  Fold vanilla into the mixture along with the eggs (one at a time).  When these ingredients are mixed well, add flour alternating it with baking powder.  Once this is done, pour milk slowly into the mixture, stirring continuously.  Continue stirring till the batter attains a smooth texture.  Grease a 9x2 inch baking pan.  Transfer cake batter into baking dish and place in 350 preheated oven.  Bake the cake for 30-40 minutes

This makes (1) 9x2 cake.  You will need to double the recipe for a 2 layer cake.

*To make an almond flavored vanilla cake use 1/2 teaspoon of almond extract and 1 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.
